This is my story
Hi, I’m Marina and if you’ve landed here, you’ve probably noticed I have a bit of a thing for Indonesia. But my love for this country didn’t start with a bucket list or a race to “see it all.” It started with people and with learning.
I’ve always been fascinated by how other people live, think, and see the world. Every conversation, every shared meal, every glimpse into someone’s daily life feels like a little lesson.
The more I travelled, the more I realised that what I’d grown up believing in Austria wasn’t wrong but it also wasn’t the only way. Travel taught me that there are endless ways to live this life, and each place, each person I meet adds a new layer to how I see the world and myself.
That’s why I don’t rush through countries. If I like a place, I stay, sometimes for weeks, sometimes months. I’m not here just for the “perfect shot” when I arrive somewhere. I’m here to soak in the feeling of a new place, to listen, to learn, and to let it change me in ways I can’t plan for.
Indonesia is the place that’s kept pulling me back. Since my first trip in 2018, I’ve returned again and again even lived here for a year. From busy city streets to quiet jungle villages, from sunrise volcano climbs to late-night street food chats, I’ve learnt that the magic of travel isn’t always in the big sights. It’s in the small, unplanned moments nobody writes about the moments where you walk away knowing something you didn’t know before. Those are the moments I live for.

This blog is my way of sharing those moments the real stories, the lessons, and the tips that go beyond “top 10 things to do.” Whether it’s your first trip to Indonesia or your fifteenth, I hope you find something here that makes you slow down, look closer, and maybe see the world and yourself a little differently.
